I love all kinds of weddings, but a classic affair will always have a special place in my heart. I absolutely loved working with Meghan and Brandon (winners of the most organized couple for sure!!) on their May wedding at Graylyn Estate. We put together a timeless, yet super fun day for their family and friends traveling from across the country. Thanks to Sara and Melanie at Whitebox for capturing every little detail!

Meghan’s bouquet smelled SO good. We incorporated lavender into her bouquet as well as Brandon’s boutonniere for a little something special just for the two of them!

Home Moravian Church is one of my favorite churches in the Triad. Not only is the church itself beautiful, but the surrounding Old Salem Museums and Gardens make for the perfect backdrop.

I just loved the pops of astilbe and mixed metals at cocktail hour!

M+B love dessert so we ditched the traditional multiple tier wedding cake for cake squares and an ice cream cart!

One of the [many] reasons I love Graylyn: the beautiful grounds. Guests were able to mingle inside around the food stations or enjoy their dinner in the sunshine on the terrace or in the garden.

I don’t think I will ever get tired of cafe lights.

Today my dear friend, Amy of Amy Lynne Originals, is sharing her insight on the perks of a planner from the perspective of a floral designer. I absolutely LOVE working with Amy and I always know our weddings together are going to be nothing short of amazing. This woman is crazy talented!!

From Amy: There are many identifiable ways a professional wedding planner makes a floral designer’s job easier. For starters, I love it when the time line appears in my inbox. With the click of a button I know what time the church is unlocked, when the linens are on the tables, and when the cake I must decorate arrives. Big timesaver! Yes, this is an obvious perk. What really matters and why I value the profession so much is this.

A good planner: 1) recognizes and utilizes the talents of the individual vendors and brings them together so each can shine! 2) provides detailed information, yet allows enough freedom so creativity can flow 3) is a leader and quick decision-maker. Lets face it, sometimes things don’t go as planned. A professional planner makes decisions and moves on so the vendors can do what they do best! 4) is welcoming. I love that familiar face on the wedding day – that planner that is happy I arrived and is genuinely trying to make it a special day for their client.

Finally, I wanted to end this blog post with a story of wedding mishap. Thinking back on all my Leigh Pearce Weddings events…I come up with nothing…no crazy story.. no unhappy client moments. There is nothing that stands out in my mind because all of our weddings together have not only been beautiful, but also seamless. And, isn’t that the point of hiring a professional wedding planner?

I may be a little biased, but this is still one of my all time favorite weddings. When your bestie gets married, how can you not love it? Amy and Matt love sports and it plays a huge role in their lives. Amy is also not a huge flower gal so we took that into consideration as well! So, how do you get this look? We created boxes of wheat grass (to mimic turf) as centerpieces. The table numbers were black and white images of all the ball parks they have visited over the years. We also surprised guests with ball park food in the way of pop corn, cracker jacks, and bite sized hot dogs at cocktail hour. When you go with a style that is a little outside of the box like this, you want to keep it clean and simple so it still feels elegant.

I love this shot by my friend, Michael Moss. It perfectly proves two things: 1) that less is more when you have beautiful surroundings and 2) unplugged weddings are the best. Not an iPhone/iPad/digital camera in sight. Just your nearest and dearest fully present and alert to the most important moment in your life. Pretty awesome.
