Sunflower Inspired Summerfield Farm Wedding {Rachel + Justin} | Greensboro NC Event Planner

When I sat down with Rachel and Justin to chat about inspiration possibilities, Rachel mentioned how much she loved sunflowers and I am pretty sure I stood up (in the middle of a bustling Maxie B’s) and did a jig. Sunflowers with the beautiful backdrop of Summerfield Farms in the summertime? Wedding perfection. More so, it was important to Rachel and Justin that their wedding be intimate, full of dancing, fun games, good food, and, of course, great memories. I’d say we knocked it out of the park! I hope you enjoy these beautiful images from Alexa’s Photography and make sure to check out this wedding feature on Every Last Detail here. Happy Monday!

We were in sunflower heaven thanks to Amy Lynne Originals.

Rachel and Justin opted to do what we call a “first touch.” They didn’t want to physically see each other before the ceremony so a quick hello, back to back, to calm the nerves was the perfect solution for them.

When your ceremony spot is this picturesque, less is definitely more.

I’m not going to lie, chuppahs are one of my favorite wedding elements. Not only do they leave room for SO many design possibilities but the symbolism and traditions behind them are, to me, what weddings are all about. Justin’s mother did an amazing job hand making their cheerful chuppah.

After the ceremony, guests took a quick hayride to the barn for hors d’oeurves and drinks. FLG served delicious tray pased caprese salad bites and their famous deviled eggs as well as a food station of slow roasted pulled pork sliders with all the fixin’s.

Insert all the heart eyes for these two!

After cocktail hour, guests moved into an adjacent tent for a formal plated dinner. For the table designs, R+J gravitated towards simple yet colorful designs so we started with a clean palette of crisp white linens and mahogany chairs. ALO’s bright floral designs paired with our adorable menus and place cards were the perfect accent and really let the menu and conversation shine.

For dinner, guests first enjoyed a summer salad of mixed greens, fresh strawberries, candied pecans, mandarin oranges, fresh local chevre, and a champagne vinagrette.  Next, for the main course, guests were offered a menu choice of Kentucky bourbon chicken, marinated flank steak with a red wine reduction, salmon with a lemon butter caper sauce, or zucchini cakes with a lemon spinach cream sauce. The Southern sides paired with each entree were a mix of smoked gouda mac and cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, grilled garlic green beans, and corn bread.

Hello gorgeous. When we started talking about sunflower designs, the first thing that came to my mind was a field full of sunflowers. I expressed my idea to Amy in the way of a escort wall turned selfie station and she created this masterpiece. It was one of my favorite design elements EVER and the guests had a blast using it for photos during the evening!

When you can’t decide what cake flavor to have, choose them all!!! Continuing our feast, we worked with Maxie B’s to create this delightful cake bar. Guests could enjoy raspberry lady, Oreo, five flavor pound, lemon almond, caramel, Dreamsicle, or strawberry buttercream.

Colorful Church Wedding + Sperry Tent Reception {Rankin + Brent} | Virginia Wedding Planner

Prepare to feast your eyes on some serrrrrious wedding eye candy. Rankin and Brent’s May wedding was one of my favorites of the year and was seriously SO much fun! I absolutely loved planning with them and could not be more pleased how everything came together on wedding day. Their event design was so true to the heart of what all of our LPW designs emote — effortlessly Southern, luxurious yet relatable, and lots of personality. Kemper Mills Fant captured every detail and moment perfectly and I loved reliving R+B’s day through his lens.  Enjoy!!

First of all, can we all give a hands up praise emoji for all of these beautiful COLORS?! Amen! I adored our refreshing and bright spring color palette. Amy Lynne Originals, per usual, knocked the floral designs out of the park and were the perfect accessory to Rankin and her sweet maids. Peonies are always my favorite, but these king protea stole the show!

Rankin and Brent were married in Rankin’s family church in a sweet and intimate ceremony for their closest family and friends.

After the ceremony, their wedding guests were transported to Brent’s family home for cocktails, dinner, and lots of dancing. As you came around the bend of the of the property, a giant sail cloth Sperry tent was set against the blue Virginia sky (thank heavens.. no rain!!). The flags at the peaks blowing in the breeze, the wonderful weather, and delightful company made for the perfect ambiance.

I could write an entire blog post just about how amazing 1618 On Location is. They always exceed my expectations in both service and their amazing cuisine. Outdoor weddings with no nearby buildings to work from are always a challenge for catering … but never for my friends at 1618. We created a pop up kitchen by the main tent where they served 350+ guests with ease. For cocktail hour on the lawn behind the main tent, we served drinks alongside passed hors d’oeuvres and a raw bar of shrimp and oysters shucked on site. The tray passed hors d’oeuvres were to die for! My two favorites were the demi glace short rib tacos with feta, butternut squash, and brussels sprout relish and pulled pork and collard green egg rolls with mango chutney. Once dinner began, guests dined all evening from assorted food stations serving everything from small plates of sesame seed crusted ahi tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes (my all time favorite) and grilled tenderloin with white cheddar potato cakes to smoked gouda mac and cheese and pomme frittes to a taco station and the most beautiful cheese and charcuterie display.

Since I am on an emoji kick today, insert all the heart eyes over this beautiful tent. As you entered the tent, your eyes immediately went up to the stunning peaks and detail of the sail cloth tent. To match that, we opted for an even mix of high and low centerpieces to fill the space. The textured linens were the *perfect* shade of blue and complimented our punchy color palette beautifully. Just off of the dance floor, Paisley & Jade and I created a large lounge vignette for mingling and taking a rest from dancing.

Rankin has a love for giraffes and found these precious gold ones online to serve as their cake topper. This touch of whimsy paired beautifully with the rough iced cake and blousey blooms from ALO. We served the cake alongside a more delicious treats from 1618: cheesecakes, truffles, strawberry shortcakes, buttermilk pies (a recipe from Rankin’s grandmother), and banana pudding.

Cheers to the perfect day for the most wonderful couple!!

The Belmont Estate Wedding {Sarah + Cedric} | Charlotte, NC Wedding Planner

This wedding will undoubtedly steal your heart like it did mine. Sarah and Cedric have a romance that has spanned the globe and we really took that idea to heart when planning the details of their big day. These two started their love story in France — Sarah was teaching for the summer before heading back to the States and met a sweet Frenchmen <<enter Cedric>>. Their romance blossomed and many travels and international moves later they were engaged and ready to plan a proper Southern wedding in Sarah’s home state of North Carolina. Sarah and Cedric selected the antebelleum style Belmont Estate in Reidsville, NC as the backdrop for their big day and we quickly got to work planning their big day!

Sarah wanted to embrace the fall setting with a color palette of deep wine red, metallic gold, blush, and cream. The Farmer’s Wife created beautiful floral designs that really helped drive our color vision and balance the elegance of the estate with the natural, organic feel Sarah loves in flowers.

Senter-68-Final Senter-105-Final

A first look is one of my favorite moments of the wedding day, but is not always the right fit for every couple. Sarah and Cedric choose to do a first touch so they could say hello and calm some nerves without taking away from the first time they would see each other at the ceremony. So sweet!

Senter-124-Final

We decided to forgo the traditional flower girl and ring bearer roles and opted for flag bearers instead. Sarah’s adorable niece and nephew were the perfect duo for the job!

The grand front steps to Belmont are the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. It was very important to Sarah and Cedric that their ceremony be as bilingual as possible so their mix of guests from the States and France could all understand and appreciate every word. Readings were said in both languages and the minister read their vows to them in English while Sarah and Cedric repeated them in French. It was so personal and touching.

Southern elegance at it’s finest!

I still swoon for this adorable amour cake topper! It was the perfect accent to the delicately iced cake. For our table design, we went for a balance of classic elegance and understated fall touches. The natural floral designs and warm pops of wine in the napkins and blooms were the perfect accent!

You cannot have a travel inspired wedding and not incorporate a globe or map! I translated their wanderlust into a glove for a guest book and this beautiful map with mini flag escort cards to guide guests to their seats. The map was my gift to Sarah and Cedric and now hangs in their apartment as a reminder to their wedding day.

Senter-279-Final Senter-423-Final Senter-473-Final

Sarah and Cedric’s love for travel and their worldwide romance really drove our design for the day from the Love Knows No Borders cocktail napkins (with gold foil!) to their gold metallic Madame and Monsieur chair signs to their Oui koozies.

Senter-476-Final Senter-580-Final Senter-558-Final

The best part of the night was by far the send off. We offered guests a mix of French and American flags to wave as Sarah and Cedric departed for their honeymoon. While we were finalizing the last few details before sending the newlyweds through a tunnel of their nearest and dearest, the guests began an impromptu sing along of the French national anthem followed by The Star Spangled Banner. It was so fun and sweet and definitely one of my top ten wedding memories.

Sarah and Cedric, thank you for sharing your day with the LPW team and I! So glad to call you both as well as your families life long friends. XOXO

Tented North Carolina Wedding {Megan + Elliott} | Greensboro NC Wedding Planner

Nothing makes my heart go pitter patter more than a beautiful tented soiree. Pair that with beautiful spring blooms and a blush and bashful color palette and I am in wedding heaven. Megan, Elliott, and their families were so much fun to plan with and it was definitely an evening to remember. From Megan’s pale pink gown to the hand calligraphed paper details to the late night popcorn station, every detail was perfection. So kick back, pop open a Cheerwine, and enjoy this beautiful day!

Emerywood Baptist Church + Adaumont Farm Wedding {Courtney + Brett} | High Point NC Wedding Planner

I am going to be honest .. I am a little sad that this wedding is over. I planned with Courtney and her mom, Sue, for over a year and they are like family now. This wedding was definitely one of my all time favorites not only for the design (I am still swooning of the florals!) but because Courtney, Brett, and their families made the day so special. I truly could not be more happy for them — these two were made for each other!!

Best of the best: Details {2015} | Raleigh, NC Wedding Planner

Every year, I fall head over heels for the details I meticulously design and create for my clients. From lush floral designs to delicately crafted confections, I love dreaming up every last detail and crafting them to perfection with my amazing creative partners. To us and to our lovely couples, the details matter because they create the perfect ambiance and guest experience. Why make ugly when you can make pretty?

First up in my recap from my 2015 soirees is this over the top, crazy gorgeous floral design from In Bloom. This piece was the perfect focal point as guests pulled up the long, winding drive way to the home of my clients (that also doubled as the wedding and reception location). I cannot wait to show you more details from Caroline and Chris’s wedding day!

One of my favorite parts of the LPW design experience is working with my amazing in-house graphic designer on personalized paper details. We wanted something classic but fun for Kristin and Ray and this natural white paper paired with a lavender monogram and patterned liner did the trick. It was the perfect precursor to a day full of beautiful blooms (like this Amy Lynne Originals bouquet) and timeless linens.

It is no secret that I am a sucker for some beautiful blooms. So when Just Priceless walked in with this beauty on Katie and Doug‘s wedding day, I’m pretty sure I squealed with excitement. The peonies, the veronica, the eucalyptus, the vines .. talk about heart eyes.

I absolutely loved dreaming up this chuppah design with Olivia for her wedding to Scott. Her dad and brother crafted the handmade chuppah while her mother sewed these beautiful sheer swiss dot drapes. The peony and elaeagnus tie backs by Farmer’s Wife pulled the whole vision together underneath the giant ceremony oak tree at Summerfield Farms. I am on pins and needles waiting to share this beauty of a day!

How often in your life do you get to enjoy a multi-course meal with a proper place setting, hand calligraphed place cards, lush centerpieces, and luxurious linen napkins? Most likely, the answer is not that often so what a treat for your guests to experience that on your wedding day! Megan and Elliott treated their guests to the ultimate dining experience under twinkling chandeliers before enjoying this delicious textured cake design with fresh blooms.

While I am a spring time, blush and bashful loving gal, I also adore fall events and the beautiful warm color palette they come with. We focused on clean, classic, and natural details for Sarah and Cedric’s event design and the way their head table came together shows that perfectly. The natural foliage, the crisp textured linen, and the pops of metallic were all so beautiful!! More to come from this sweet day soon!

Boonetown Story

Cream colored naked cakes and crisp apple strudels … these are a few of my favorite things. The dessert display we created with Sweet Josephine’s for Kathryn and Shawn was definitely a favorite. I am a firm believe you can never go wrong with assorted desserts with a beautiful cake at the center. That along with vintage touches, hand calligraphed pie tags, and fresh blooms really took this delectable display to the next level. I will have more to share from this vintage farm soiree soon! (P.S. Bonus points for anyone who appreciated my corny Sound of Music reference.)

One of my favorite details to love on is the grand exit of the bride and groom. We designed a classically beautiful day for Anna and Jack so what could be more fitting for their send off that traditional bird seed? I tucked the seed into translucent bags so the guests knew what they were tossing and added these sweet For the Love Birds tags. So much more to come from A+J’s elegant Winston-Salem wedding soon!
