Pasha Belmen Photography | Carol Anne + Brad’s Adaumont Farm Wedding
No other service in your budget is as important as photography. A quality photographer is worth every penny. Your beautiful photos are the only thing you will have after your wedding other than your dress and a few left over programs. Here are some tips for hiring the best photographer for you:
1. Is your photographer familiar with shooting weddings? You may love your trusty portrait photographer that takes your family photos every Christmas, but that does not mean he is also a wedding photographer. Ask to see a portfolio of recent weddings as well as one album from one wedding from beginning to end. It is NOT worth it to take a chance on a newbie.
2. How many photographers will be there? Depending on the size of your event, the photographer may need a second shooter to ensure that the right moments are captured. The more people on your guest list or the more complicated/spread out your venue is, the harder for a photographer to navigate. It also helps them have a second angle for special moments in case an unwanted guest (I am looking at you Uncle Bill with the giant iPad taking pictures in the middle of the aisle during the first kiss!) pops up.
3. What packages are offered? Clarify what services and products are included in each of your options. Ask whether or not the packages can be customized to fit your needs (for example, you do not want rehearsal dinner coverage but you would like an extra album for your parents). Also, please understand that the cost is going to be higher than you expect. These are two great articles on why it costs so much and why a professional makes a difference.
