Save The Date Tips | Greensboro North Carolina Wedding Coordinator

Save the Dates are one of my favorite things to get in the mail. It’s the first glimpse a guest gets of the wedding and can be so much fun to design. But, there are rules people! For example, sending out a Save the Date two months before the wedding is pointless. One of my paper gurus, Pasha Davis of Bridal Flavors, is sharing her top Do’s and Don’ts with us today. Take it away, Pasha!

When you’re planning your wedding, you’re excited about the entire process. From choosing a date and a venue to trying on wedding dresses and tasting cakes, there are a number of things you want (and need) to do. Ordering wedding stationery is just as important; but you don’t always need all the pieces to have a successful wedding. Save the dates are one of those pieces of stationery that aren’t always warranted. Below are some easy do’s and dont’s to help you decide whether or not you need to order some.

DO:

1. Send save the dates if your wedding is during a holiday season. This will allow ample time for guests to plan their travel, especially since travel may be more expensive and hectic.

2. Send save the dates if the majority of your guests will be coming from out of town. This will allow guests ample time to coordinate their travel plans.

3. Be creative with your save the date. This along with the invitation set the tone and theme for your big day.

4. Showcase your personality and style in your save the dates.

DON’T:

1.Send a save the date 8 weeks or less before the wedding date. (Simply send your invitation a few weeks earlier than planned.)

2. Send out an e-save the date. In the age of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media networks, it’s easy to do this to get the word out to everyone. However, etiquette states that you need to send a paper (or some variation [i.e. magnet] of it.)

3. Send them the to EVERYONE! Send them to people you know you’re going to invite. This way if you have to cut our budget, then only those with a save the date need to be formally invited.
